Unit 1: People in My World Love Me
This month our unit will focus on family, teachers, and friends in the lives of children who are one and turning two. What an incredible time in young children’s lives! They are forming new relationships. We have the privilege of introducing them to the most important person in their world—Jesus! We are laying the foundation for a personal relationship that will last for an eternity!

Unit 2: God Created All Things
This month our unit takes ones and turning twos on a tour of creation! They will learn about: day and night; flowers, plants, and trees; animals; and people. The concept that we want the children to learn is that God created all things. But the most important concept we want the children to learn is that God created them and made them very special!

Unit 3: I Can Say Thank You to God
This month our unit focuses on saying thank you to God. Ones and turning twos are learning to say thank you. Allow the children to hear you say thank you many times this month. We have so many things to be thankful for! We are blessed.

Unit 4: Jesus Is Born
The story of Christmas is one that ones and turning twos may be hearing for the first time but we hope will hear for many years to come. During this unit, children will begin understanding the words “Thank you, God, for baby Jesus.” Remind the children that Jesus loves them!

Unit 5: Jesus as a Child
This unit takes a walk with Jesus from the age of two, when the Wise Men came to visit, through his going to the temple with his family. Jesus came to this earth as a small baby. We are so blessed, through the stories in the Bible, to watch him grow into a man. The children you teach are growing physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We have the opportunity to teach these children and help them understand that God takes care of them as they grow.

Unit 6: I Love My Church
During the month, we will focus on helping children to love their church. We will look at Old and New Testament stories about different kinds of churches and the people who made up these churches. For the ones and turning twos that you teach, the church to them is their Sunday School room. This is the only part of the church with which they can identify. Make their experience a happy one! We want them to establish a good foundation during these early years.

Unit 7: I Am Special to God
During the month, children will hear over and over that they are special to God. As we walk through both the Old and New Testaments, we will teach the children that God created them, helps them make right choices, and shows them how to help others.

Unit 8: Learning About Jesus (Easter unit)
During this unit, children will hear Jesus’ name many times. We want them to begin to associate the name of Jesus with church. They will hear that Jesus loves them and cares for them. What a wonderful message to share during this Easter season!

Unit 9: My Family
In Unit 9, ones and turning twos will learn that their families love and care for them. They will hear stories from the Old Testament about Joseph, Moses, Abraham and Lot, and Elijah. These stories are familiar to teachers, but the children will be hearing them for the first time! Remember that some of your children’s families will not be traditional families. Know your children well so you will be sensitive to special needs.

Unit 10: I Can Be a Good Friend
In Unit 10, the children will learn about the relationship of friends. At this early stage in their lives, children cannot comprehend the word “friend.” However, they are learning that people love and care for them, and they have fun playing with other children. You are beginning to help them understand the word “friend” as you talk to, care for, and play with these young children.

Unit 11: God Cares for Me
During Unit 11, we will help instill in ones and turning twos that God cares for them. Bible stories from the Old Testament that remind us of God’s care will be shared each week. Parents entrust their children to you each week. They expect you to love and care for their child. Show them God’s love and care through your actions and kind words this month.

Unit 12: The Bible Is a Special Book
During Unit 12, Ones and Turning Twos will hear over and over that the Bible is a special book. Parents are instructed to teach their children the Bible. As teachers of these children, we need to help the parents know that when their child is at church, we will be teaching Bible truths that are on their level of understanding. We are laying foundations of spiritual truths.

Unit 13: I Have Friends at Church
This unit is about friends. Ones and turning twos are learning how to interact with people and develop friendships. They are learning how to have a friend and how to be a friend. As teachers, we will affirm our friendship and introduce children to other people at church who are their friends. We are preparing children for a time when they will have a personal relationship with the best of all friends, our Lord Jesus.

Unit 14: I Can Be Kind
This month our unit will focus on kindness. The Bible provides many examples of showing kindness in everyday settings. In working with young children, sharing and kindness are essential components of a positive classroom experience. We will have the opportunity to model kindness and allow the children to practice it in different settings.

Unit 15: Thank You, God, for My World
The psalmist gave us a beautiful account of creation in Psalm 104. It gives us a very descriptive look at creation. This month, we will show ones and turning twos that God created the world for them and, most importantly, that God created and cares for them.

Unit 16: Jesus’ Birth Is Good News
Jesus’ birth is good news to all! Mary and Joseph heard the good news that Mary would have a special baby. Angels proclaimed the good news that Jesus was born. Shepherds thanked God for sending baby Jesus. The wise men gave gifts to this special child. We will celebrate the good news, too, remembering that Christmas is Jesus’ birthday!

Unit 17: The Bible Helps Us Know God
During this unit, ones and turning twos will learnthat the Bible is a very important book. They will learn that the Bible helps us make good choices, know how to worship God, know about Jesus, and know how to tell others about Jesus.

Unit 18: God Loves Me
This month our unit will focus on family, teachers, and friends in the lives of children who are one and turning two. What an incredible time in young children’s lives! They are forming new relationships. We have the privilege of introducing them to the most important person in their world—Jesus! We are laying the foundation for a personal relationship that will last for an eternity!

Unit 19: Things We Do at Church
This month, you will help ones and turning twos feel secure and comfortable as you demonstrate God’s love to them at church. As they hear you read the Bible, voice simple thank-you prayers, and sing about Jesus’ love, they will become aware that reading the Bible, praying, and singing at church are ways that we show God we love him. Pray that the children in your care will learn to associate going to church with these worshipful and joyful activities!

Unit 20: Jesus Is Wonderful (an Easter unit)
Jesus is a wonderful friend. This unit will include the Easter story. What an incredible time in young children’s lives! They are forming new relationships and making friends. We have the privilege of introducing them to the most important friend in their world—Jesus! We are laying the foundation for a personal relationship that will last for an eternity!

Unit 21: Friends Help Us
What would we do without friends? We know how important friends are to us as adults, but ones and turning twos are just beginning to play alongside of other children and enjoy being around them. They are naturally self-centered. Therefore, they don’t think about other children as friends. They will learn that friends help each other and work together. During the month, they will learn that Jesus and their teachers are their friends.

Unit 22: God Gives Us Families
God planned for families. A family provides support, encouragement, accountability, and love. God planned for families to love one another. It is through loving one another that children first come to understand the love of God. Being part of a family who loves God is so valuable for a child. This forms the foundation of faith.

Unit 23: People at Church Do Special Things
This month our unit will focus on the role of the church. Ones and turning twos will learn about fellowship, giving, and sharing Jesus with others. What a wonderful way to encourage young families to become involved in the church—through the lessons that we share with their children!

Unit 24: I Can Learn in Many Ways
This month our unit will focus on the different ways that young children learn about God’s wonderful love and the world that God has made for them to enjoy. Children learn by seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling. Each Bible story this month will focus on one of their five senses. They can learn in many ways!
